Recently, Amrita Hospital, Faridabad, in collaboration with IADVL SIG on Eczema, Contact Dermatitis & Pruritus (ECDP) and IADVL Haryana, organized an important Continuing Medical Education (CME) event titled “Newer Horizons in Eczema, Contact Dermatitis & Pruritus”. This was the first large-scale dermatology CME held in Faridabad, bringing together around 60–70 expert dermatologists from across India. The event was accredited with 4 CME credit hours by the Haryana Medical Council.

Practical Insights on Eczema and Moisturizers
I had the opportunity to speak about the effective use of moisturizers in atopic dermatitis. During my lecture, I explained the different components of moisturizers—including humectants, emollients, and occlusives—and how to select the right formulation based on skin type and patient preferences. I also shared practical tips to help patients stick with their moisturizer routine for better skin health.
Panel Discussions and Expert Sessions
The CME featured expert discussions and panels on the real-world management of atopic dermatitis, emphasizing evidence-based approaches and challenges clinicians face.
Dr. Deepika Pandhi presented detailed insights into hand dermatitis, explaining its multifactorial causes such as irritant exposures, allergies, and skin barrier impairment. She highlighted the importance of tailoring treatments to patients’ occupations and adopting protective skin care measures.
A case-based panel moderated by Dr. Archana Singal explored diagnostic challenges in differentiating irritant from allergic contact dermatitis, providing practical clinical solutions.
Dr. Vichitra addressed managing pruritus during pregnancy, guiding safe treatment options and differentiating various pregnancy-related itchy skin conditions.
Inauguration and Acknowledgements
The event was inaugurated with a thoughtful welcome by Prof. (Dr.) Neena Khanna, who emphasized the evolving landscape of inflammatory skin diseases and the crucial role of structured clinical education for dermatologists.
Maj. Gen. (Dr.) Rajesh Verma, the Organizing Chairperson, expressed his gratitude to all the organizers, speakers, and delegates. The smooth running of the CME was supported by the dedicated CME committee, AOC, IT, and F&B departments of Amrita Hospital.
